Lean bulk from skinny-fat

Normal weight on the scale but soft in the middle — around 18–24% body fat with underdeveloped chest, shoulders, and arms. Here is what the lean bulk transformation looks like from exactly that start — rendered on a real photo, not a stock body.

Starting from skinny-fat

Skinny-fat responds best to building muscle rather than dieting harder. Lift heavy with progressive overload, eat around maintenance with plenty of protein, and let recomposition change the shape while the scale barely moves.

What lean bulk changes

Slow, controlled mass with minimal bodyfat creep. The patient game.

  • Fuller chest, shoulders, and back without a softer waist
  • Arms and legs up a size
  • Abs still visible at the end

What it takes

6–9 months in a small surplus. A lean bulk is a 200–300 calorie surplus with hard training, gaining roughly 1–2 lb a month. It is slower than a dirty bulk and looks far better at the end. The preview assumes you keep body fat close to where it is now and adds the muscle a well-run surplus would build.
